AFHA would like to thank everyone that was in attendance for our Inaugural event! We had such a great time and learned so much. The enthusiasm was truly inspiring and could be felt by all. We’re really looking forward to working with all of you!
Speaking of working… Was everyone able to hear all the speakers that shared their stories and causes with us? The work they’re doing is so important in our city! Thank you Sustain Atlanta, USGBC, The Housing Resource Center, Mad Housers and the Hope Floats Initiative for enlightening us about your organizations! We hope you get involved with them as well as we head down the path of a more sustainable future!
Speaking of being sustained, how about Taria Camerino’s wonderful food at the event? Was that not some of the tastiest food you’ve ever had?
We’d also like to say CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who walked away with a prize! Wow! There were some good ones! Those of you who were able to purchase a raffle ticket, you helped make the night even more of a success! Thank you! Through raffle proceeds and private donations the Hope Floats Initiative was able to raise almost $1,000 for their project. The need for proper structures in the slums along the waterways in Lagos is unbelievable! AFHA is so honored to support their efforts with this project.
As we move forward with this chapter we’ll be looking to you for support in projects within our community here in Atlanta as well of course. Local support is our number one concern. There is an open forum on the 10th of June where we will be looking to the community for ideas on projects you have in mind. We hope to see you there. See our next posting for details.
