Oasis Project
Architecture for Humanity Atlanta is holding an open design charette for the Oasis project on the 19th of September at 10am and you’re invited.
If this is your first introduction to the Oasis project, we are hosting a design competition for public bus stop benches and shelters. Our goal is to assist those who rely on public transportation to make a living, but have no place to sit while waiting on that next bus to come.
The project will be conducted in two phases. In the design phase we will accept submissions from any person or team that would like to submit, as many designs as they like. To facilitate this process we will host a series of charettes from mid-September through mid-October. Three designs will be chosen. And the selected designers will get the chance to build and install their prototypes. Selected designers will be provided some materials and volunteers for the purpose of expediting the construction. Our goal is to have enough resources to build not just the prototypes but additional structures as well.
Our first design charette is scheduled for Saturday, September 19th, at 10 a.m. The charette will be held at Emory University’s Master Planning studio conference room (see pdf for directions).
We hope to see you there!
